Our parent meeting will take place at 4:45pm on Wednesday August 18th. We will meet outside of the palm at the tables if weather is good! We hope parents can join us to review the upcoming season, expectations, etc…. This meeting will be MANDATORY for all athletes! It should not take more than 30-45 minutes. If parent’s cannot attend, your child can bring home the documents for you to read.

Athletes will have a grace period of a week and a half to get in all paperwork and physical in. After that they cannot train until their forms are completed. Athletes are not allowed to travel to any meet without all their forms and physical submitted.

What should your kiddo have for 1st day of practice?

  1. Water bottle – any kind works for now

  4. Running shoes – prevent injuries

** All of these things help to ensure that your kiddo will have a good experience at practice!

Welcome to Middle School Cross Country!

Hi Folks,

I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy this summer! I am beyond stoked to start this years xc season. I've been told that emails have been getting sent out about registration so even if you have previously registered with the school, please still fill out the form below.  Not only is that how I create my email list for all important information but also is how we get emergency contact information.

Sign Up: https://forms.gle/xyrPtMrPSn3eQWjVA

We are hoping that COVID restrictions don't get more intense as we move into the fall. Thus far this season should be looking more like a pre-covid year, but as usual things change.

We will have a parent meeting this year, date TBD. Until this meeting here are the rough details of the season.  Practice will begin on Wednesday August 11th. I strongly encourage athletes to attend if they are in town at this time. The season will roughly go through Oct 4th. Practices are from 3:30-4:45pm Mon thru Thur. No practices on Fridays, but we do have 4 or so meets on Fridays. Meet in front of the Palm Theater.

I strongly support middle school athletes participating in many sports, however athletes will need to attend a specific number of practices weekly and before the first meet. Therefore, starting practices on Aug 11th allows them to have a good buffer of practices so that they can participate in the first meet.

Lastly, due to the fact that our team has been growing with big numbers every year, our AD, Mr. Murray approved and supported adding an assistant coach to our MS team. Tanner Small will be the new MS XC assistant coach. Tanner just moved to town after teaching physical education for some years and coaching the Cortez MS XC team. We are super stoked to have him! Since we have an assistant coach now (don't think we have ever had an assistant) we might as well just expand the team and make it bigger! Invite any and all 6-8th grade parents to contact me with any questions.

As usual please let me know if you have any questions!
